The research of inorganic pigments is currently undergoing intensive development. Increasingly the compounds, which occurred before ten years ago, have been identified as promising and economically unaffordable, but according to the environmental pressure narrowing the existing range of pigments could direct the research of pigments to compounds with an interesting composition, in which increasingly appears rare earth elements. The information obtained so far show that this path is promising, as the newly prepared compounds are ecologically acceptable, they have corresponding pigmentary properties and are colourfully interesting. At the same time it also shows that the acquisition of compounds with yellow and orange shades is still easier than to prepared compounds with red or violet hues. It is therefore clear that the development of new compounds with interesting color shades is an attractive topic for researchers and industry, primarily materials, where the refund is applied transitional ions by ions of lanthanides.
