The paper concerns butyl(2-azidoethyl)nitramine (BuAENA). The compound was prepared by the reaction of butyl(2-nitroxyethyl)nitramine (BuNENA) and sodium azide. The azidation was carried out using three different methods: (1) using a polar aprotic solvent, (2) with water in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst and (3) with water plus ultrasound. Analyses of the products were performed by elemental analysis, TLC, HPLC and FTIR. Physical and thermal properties of BuAENA were determined. The paper concerns butyl(2-azidoethyl)nitramine (BuAENA).
