Paper describes ferrite and core-shell ferrite pigments and especially focuses on syntheses and anticorrosion properties of the prepared pigments. As a stating substances lamellar zinc, iron oxide, magnesium carbonate and calcium carbonate were used. MexZn1-xFe2O4/Zn and MexZn1-xFe2O4 (Me = Mg or Ca) calcination products were dispersed into epoxyester binder and final paints applied on corrosion test panels. Prepared pigments? anticorrosion and mechanical properties were tested and results discussed. On the field of anticorrosion protection these environmental friendly pigments are unique due to combination of anticorrosion effects, designed particle size distribution and anticorrosion mechanism.
