dcterms:description
Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most prevalent cause of dementia in the elderly population today with an increasing tendency. In spite of the fact that it is so common, AD often goes unrecognized or is misdiagnosed in its early stages. The importance of the early and accurate diagnosis is evident. Development of valuable diagnostic methods for determination of AD specific biomarkers, such as Abeta peptides and Tau protein, is one of the current goals. The aim of this study is integration of immunomagnetic carrier with orientedly immobilized anti-Aβ antibody into microfluidic device and an application of this system for immunoprecipitation of Abeta peptides. Binding efficiency and specificity of the immunosorbent were validated by serum or cerebrospinal fluid spiked with synthetic Abeta peptides.
