dcterms:description
Prostate cancer is a common disease in industrial countries. Prostate tumors preferentially disseminate to bones and induce significant rearrangement of the bone architecture. T The aim of this study is to characterize effects of growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) secreted by prostate cancer cells on the osteoclastic differentiation pathway. This study documents that GDF-15 both as purified substance and as unpurified product secreted by prostate cancer cells strongly interferes with differentiation of osteoclasts by inhibiting expression and activity of NFkB and c-Fos.
