Oligonukleotidy jsou elektroaktivní částice produkující oxidační signály na uhlíkových elektrodách stejně jako tenzametrické signály na kapalných rtuťových a pevných amalgámových elektrodách. Báze NK mohou být určeny při nanomolárních koncentracích pomocí katodické stripping voltametrie. Zcela nedávno, Farias publikoval možnost stanovení některých bází NK ve stopových množstvích na rtuťové elektrodě za pomoci dvojmocné mědi přítomné v roztoku. V práci bylo navázáno na tyto zkušenosti a po kyselé hydrolýze byly báze NK sledovány na HMDE a na uhlíkové elektrodě v přítomnosti Cu (II). Ze studií hydrolyzovaných ODNs vyplynula velmi dobrá korelace mezi voltametrickým signálem a délkou ODN řetězce. The bases of nucleic acids can be determined by cathodic stripping voltammetry at nanomolar concentrations. Quite recently, Farias et al.presented determination of some nucleic bases in the presence of copper(II) in combination of mercury electrode to their ultratrace determination. Acid treated oligonucleotides containing purine bases were analysed by voltammetric techniques including differential pulse and cyclic voltammetry. The analysis is based on the electrochemical determination of released purine bases in the presence of copper(II) ions. Voltammetric stripping analysis was performed in alkaline or acidic medium using a hanging mercury drop electrode or a carbon paste electrode, respectively.
