This publication deals with the major Western theories of translation. The first part is devoted to a historical overview of theoretical discourses on translation (especially literary, but also in the humanities) in France, England, Germany, in the period from the late 15th century to the early 20th century. The second part focuses on several translation theories dominant in Western countries (Europe, USA) from the second half of the 20th century to the present. La publications aborde la problématique des grandes théories occidentales de la traduction. La premiere partie est consacrée a un apercu historique des discours théoriques sur la traduction littéraire (en particulier, mais aussi dans les sciences humaines) en France, en Angleterre, en Allemagne, dans la période allant de la fin du 15eme siecle au début du 20eme siecle. La deuxieme partie porte sur plusieurs théories de la traduction dominantes dans les pays occidentaux (Europe, États-Unis) a partir de la seconde moitié du 20e siecle jusqu´ a nos jours.
