dcterms:description
The presentation deals with the recontextualized use of live TV sports broadcasting in online journalism. It documents how online journalists draw on selected parts of TV broadcasts and how they incorporate such pre-formulated descriptions into their own live commentaries. This practice affects not only the texts' intertextual composition but also the overall pattern of interaction. Journalists are often highly critical of the pre-existing broadcast talk produced by their colleagues, as attested by their frequent metacomments and pseudo-dialogic reactions. Moreover, since the online media allow for a degree of controlled audience participation, some broadcast talk can also be mediated to the online journalist, via the readers, while the live commentary is still being produced.
