dcterms:description
Movement is one of the fundamental needs of every living organism including humans. Hence, the human body is evolutionarily designed for an active lifestyle. Regardless of the natural need to move, the majority of people forming contemporary populations of developed nations have a sedentary lifestyle. A proper level of physical activity is, however, necessary for regular physical, mental and social development. Lower physical activity may lead to a lifelong motor illiteracy (Szyguła, 2007) and cause motor system defects including flat foot (Fenczyn J, Szmigiel Cz, 2003). Because disorders of human foot architecture are often negative consequences of limited physical activity, morphological changes in the foot associated with its dysfunction are frequently considered to be civilization diseases.
