The first laboratory in Europe for the investigation of low-temperature flows by visualization has been recently established at Charles University in Prague. The newly implemented setup is described and its specific features discussed. Thermal conterflow experiments have been performed and the motion of solid hydrogen and deuterium tracers investigated by using the particle tracking velocimetry technique in order to probe the system capabilities.
