The stannylene {2-[(CH3)(2)NCH2]C6H4}(2)Sn (1) was reacted with oxygen, sulfur, selenium, tellurium, and carbon disulfide. The reactions with heavier chalcogens led to the rapid formation of 1:1 dinuclear adducts which were characterized by elemental analysis, ESI-MS measurements, H-1 NMR spectroscopy, and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction (in the case of reaction products with S-8 (3) and Te (5)). The reaction of 1 with carbon disulfide and elemental sulfur yields the remarkable compound {{2-[(CH3)(2)NCH2](2)C6H4}Sn}(2)(mu(2)-S2C=CS2) (3a).
