dcterms:description
Based on critical discourse analysis of the Czechoslovak and Czech newspapers within 1948 - 2008 and interviews with sports editors-in-chief the paper compares the position of athletes with a disability in discourse of sports journalism in changing social context and historical conditions. It analyses how powerful or powerless they are described, how actively they can participate in creating their own media portrait and how powerful or powerless they seem to the sports editors- in-chief. According to the results of this research, it seems that the position of athletes with a disability in the discourse of Czechoslovak/Czech sports journalism and style of media stereotyping stay the same.
