Cecal ligation and puncture resulted in severe septic state with decreased protein synthesis, increased protein breakdown and leucine oxidation. Growth hormone administration did not influence these parameters in septic animals. Alanyl-glutamine prevented a decrease in muscle glutamine, decreased leucine oxidation in both sham-operated and septic rats, and had no effect on protein synthesis and breakdown. Ligace céka a jeho punkce navodila těžký septický stav provázený sníženou proteosyntézou, zvýšenou proteolýzou a oxidací leucinu. Aplikace růstového hormonu neměla na tyto parametry vliv. Aplikace alanyl-glutaminu zabránila poklesu koncentrace glutaminu ve svalu a snížila oxidaci leucinu, neovlivnila však změny v proteosyntéze a proteolýze.
