dcterms:description
The present study was aimed at describing porcine mononuclear phagocyte subpopulations infiltrating inflamed tissue of pigs under in vivo conditions. Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae infection was used to induce an inflammatory response. CD172a, CD14, CD163, MHCII and CD203a cell surface molecules were used to identify mononuclear phagocyte by flow cytometry. Changes in mononuclear phagocyte subpopulations in the peripheral blood and bone marrow compartments along with the analysis of mononuclear phagocyte appearing in the inflamed lungs were assessed to elucidate the possible origin and maturation stages of the infiltrating mononuclear phagocyte. The mononuclear phagocyte population migrating to the inflamed lungs was positive for molecules CD14 and CD163 and positive or negative for molecules CD203a and MHCII. Based on results, two different maturation pathways of mononuclear phagocyte were suggested in pigs. The use of these pathways differs under inflammatory and non-inflammatory conditions.
