Estrogenicity in vitro of fluoranthene, benzo[a]pyrene and benz[a]anthracene were determined in the MCF-7 mammary breast cancer cell line stablz traqnsfected with luciferase reporter gene controlled by estrogen receptor alpha. These aromatics significantly potentiated estrogen receptor-mediated activit of estradiol and stimulated G0/G1-S-phase transition in MCF-7 cells.
