dcterms:description
The effect of collection time (6.00, 10.00 and 14.00 h) and housing system (cage vs litter) on egg quality characteristics were evaluated in white egg genotypes (hybrid Lohmann LSL and pure breed Czech Hen). The experiment was carried out from 20 to 60 weeks of age. Oviposition time was evaluated during laying cycle at 6.00, 10.00 and 14.00 h. Eggs for quality assessment were collected in a four week interval, two days in row, all eggs laid from each cage or litter pen at each collection time (total 1469 eggs). A significant interaction (P=0,034) in oviposition of housing and genotype was detected, both genotypes had different laying pattern. The highest number of eggs (30,7 %) was laid in Czech Hen at 6.00 h on litter and the lowest (0,9%) at 10.00 h in cages by the same genotype. Housing on litter delayed time of oviposition. The significant interaction (P<0,006) of oviposition time, housing and genotype was recorded in egg weight. The lightest eggs were laid by Czech Hen in cages at 6.00 h (47,5 g). The significant interaction of all factors (P<0,008) was in yolk/albumen ratio, whereas the egg shell proportion was significantly affected by genotype (P<0,001) and oviposition time (P<0,001). The significant three-way interaction (P<0,018) was in Haugh unit score with the highest values in Lohmann LSL in cages at 14.00 h (89,8) and the lowest in Czech Hen on litter at 10.00 h (73,0). Eggs shell quality parameters were affected rather by individual factors than by interactions.
