The aim of this study was to test the effects of pongam oil from the Indian beech tree, Pongamia pinnata (Linnaeus) Pierre, on whitefl ies (Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood 1856). Three experiments were conducted on chrysanthemum plants: (a) a choice test with treated and untreated plants; (b) a no-choice test; and (c), direct treatments on adult whitefl ies on plants. All experiments were run under greenhouse conditions in insect proof-cages. The choice and no-choice test were evaluated after the 4th, 8th and 12th day after the treatment with different concentrations of pongam oil suspension (2.0%, 1.0% and 0.5%). The number of adult whitefl ies and the number of eggs per leaf were evaluated. Pongam oil treatments reduced both, the number of adult whitefl ies and eggs on the chrysanthemum plants. Generally, this effect declined over time and was weaker for the lower than for the higher concentrations. Pongam oil may be considered as a promising preparation for greenhouse plant protection. V našem pokuse jsme zkoušely účinek oleje z Pongamia pinnata L. na molici skleníkovou (Trialeurodes vaporariorum West.). Pro tento experiment byly vybrány dva typy testování na rostlinách chryzantém (Chrysanthemum sp.). První, výběrový test kde si mohli molice vybírat z ošetřených a neošetřených rostlin. A druhý, nevýběrový test kde byly jen ošetřené rostliny. Celý experiment probíhal v skleníku v izolátorech. Vyhodnocení probíhalo čtvrtý, osmý a dvanáctý den od postříkaní rostlin přípravkem pongam oil ve vodní suspenzi o různých koncentracích (2.0, 1.0 a 0.5 %). Na konci experimentu byl vyhodnocen: repelentní účinek, průměrný počet nakladených vajíček na listech, deterenční index a číslo usmrcených dospělců na rostlinách. Pongam oil vidíme jako účinný a perspektivný přípravek při ochraně rostlin v sklenících.
