A survey to evaluate Chinese local resources and to compare them with Czech germplasm using DNA markers was carried out. Together 66 AFLP primer combinations chetnut gernotypes. Out of them 12 were used for genotyping of 24 Chinese cultivars and genetic resources and 10 Czech genotypes from Holovousy and Nasavrky. Apparent differences were found between Czech and Chinese germplasms. Low polymorphism level was detected within 6 superior chestnut cultivars. Breeding for high yield and test may play an i mportant role. This knowledge could help breeders to select genotypes, combination of which can ensure good yield and nut quality.
