Doba, ve které je fungicid poprvé aplikován je urcena dobou, ve které je skutecne dosažena, nebo prekrocen specifická prahová hodnota jedním nebo i nekolika patogeny. Primární asekundární vliv ošetrení podle prahových hodnot, který má být kvantifikován, urcuje pak biologickou potrebu dalších opatrení (následné aplikace).
