The study area represents the northern part of El Salvador, the region that is particularly prone to natural hazards caused by seismic, volcanic and tectonic activities (endodemic processes) and associated exodynamic phenomena such are landslide hazards, rock failures and floods. The study was carried out with standard remote sensing tools for the processing of satellite imagery and the construction of DEMs. The analysis was based on digital data sets including various derivatives of digital elevation models (DEMs) as well as Landsat image data, seismic database and geological and morphological maps. Relevant thematic maps representing various factors (e.g., slope, aspect, relative relief, lithology, buffer zones along thrusts, faults and lineaments, drainage density and land cover) that are related to exodynamic phenomena such is landslide activity, have been generated using remote sensing and GIS techniques. These data were combined to compute susceptibility map using statistical methods. Jsou představeny nové techniky zpracování satelitních dat a digitálního modelu reliéfu, které přinesly nové informace z oblasti geologie, morfologie a hydrologie. Tato nová data byla zpracována multivariační metodou, pomoci níž byla vytvořena modelová mapa náchylnosti ke svahovým a pohybům pro oblast severního Salvadoru.
