Behaviorální účinky látky 3,4 metylendioxymetamfetaminu (MDMA, extáze) jsou poměrně dobře popsány u lidí a stejně tak i u zvířat. Málo je ale známo o pohlavních rozdílech v účincích MDMA. Cílem naší studie bylo studium pohlavních rozdílů ve stimulačních účincích MDMA (2,5; 5,0 a 10,0 mg/kg (s.c.)) u samců a samic potkanů kmene Wistar. Pomocí 3 různých behaviorálních metod (aktivitní klec, test otevřeného pole a test vyvýšeného křížového bludiště) jsme sledovali rozdílné parametry spontánního chování. V aktivitní kleci jsme 30 minut po podání MDMA hodnotili horizontální a vertikální lokomoční aktivitu po dobu 3 minut. V testu otevřeného pole byli potkani umístěni do arény 15 minut po podání drogy a lokomoční aktivitu jsme registrovali po dobu 30 minut. A nakonec, v testu vyvýšeného křížového bludišti byli potkani aplikováni MDMA 30 minut před začátkem měření a následně byli v bludišti hodnoceni po dobu 5 minut.
