dcterms:description
Sandwich composites exposed to higher levels of moisture and temperature significantly change their properties and may even be irreversibly damaged without the involvement of mechanical stress. The foam cores of sandwich composites offer the advantage of easily acquiring relatively general shapes but may also be a limiting element in the design. The selection of the foam has a major impact on the thermal resistance of the work. The moisture resistance of composites results from the properties of the surface layers, whether of the surface resins or paint systems. The combination of increased temperature and moisture accelerates the negative processes being monitored.
