In recent time, a significant interest in detection of nonlinear scatterers in various applications has appeared. One of these applications is detection of passive objects of artificial origin containing electronic circuits or other non-explosive elements incorporated into the firing train of hidden Explosive Hazards (EH) means. An experimental research of a detection system based on nonlinear radar as a part of a reconnaissance system for personnel and vehicle protection has been started at our workplace. The first step was developing of an experimental measuring system which enables the measurement of nonlinear characteristics of various kinds of scatterers assumed to be potential EH targets. A functional sample of advanced detection system has been designed and realized to show the proof of concept. Initial experiments in the laboratory have been performed. Measurements at the test field will follow to determine the performance for various targets and basic scenarios.
