In this project, we intend to develop the tools and methodology based on chlorophyll fluorescence transient and reflectance spectra for the high throughput screening of abiotic stresses in the plants. We proposed to measure the time resolved chlorophyll fluorescence images and reflectance spectra of the representative plants and mutants in response of the abiotic stresses (light, temperature). We propose to investigate the phenotype and the genotype responses of the plants and mutants using conventional parameters of chlorophyll fluorescence and reflectance spectra (visible) for establishing abiotic stresses tolerance screening indexes. The advanced statistical methods (based on classifiers and feature selection) developed in our laboratory (Berger et al., 20007, Matous et al., 2006) will be modified and employed for the analysis of multidimensional time resolved chlorophyll fluorescence images. Pro měření abiotické stresové tolerance u rostlin neinvazivní metodou jsme navrhli chlorofylovou fluorescenci. Přesvědčivá data demonstrují použitelnost této metody pro screening vysokého počtu rostlin s výběrem rezistentních genotypů. We designed chlorophyll fluorescence based non-invasive methods for measuring abiotic stress tolerance in plants. We have convincing data demonstrating this method can be used to screen plants in high-throughput for selection of resistant genotypes.
