Navrhovaný projekt si klade za cíl porozumět biologickým procesům a vysvětlit interakce mikroorganismů a rostlin, které se podílí na degradaci některých organických xenobiotik s cílem pomoci zefektivnit odstraňování toxikantů z prostředí. The primary objectives of this research effort are to understand some of the basic mechanisms by which plants and rhizosphere bacteria contribute to the removal of persistent organic chemicals, to identify in molecular terms the biocatalytic processes inherent to biodegradation performed by diverse, indigenous organisms and the diversity of biota involved in degradation of persistent halogenated and aromatic organic priority pollutants in environments with emphasis on soils. This approach will provide new insights into molecular microbial biodiversity and its changes within different environmental conditions in order to optimize conditions for degradation of xenobiotics.
