Náchylnost drceného kameniva, používaného do betonu, k alkalicko-silikátové reakci bude hodnocena z pohledu petrografických charakteristik křemene a podílu minerálů uvolňujících alkálie v maltovém prostředí. Zároveň bude porovnávána s mechanickými a technickými vlastnostmi kameniva. Project focuses on the study of degradation mechanisms in concrete due to alkali-silica reaction with the petrographic characterization of quartz rich aggregates. The sampling aims to include aggregates with different deformation and recrystallization mechanisms of quartz and variable proportions of quartz to other minerals. Their presence is investigated with the aim to characterize the alkali release from aggregates and its effect on alkali-silica reaction. Laboratory investigation involves experimental techniques (mortar bar and gel pat test) as well as microscopic methods, petrographic image analysis, X-ray diffraction and leaching tests. Methods for testing alkali-silica reaction potential of aggregates are developed and the results will be included in international aggregate database.
