dcterms:description
Selection strategies for increasing porcine meat production are aimed at further genetic improvement of muscle growth potential, adequate leanness and good meat quality at slaughter. Muscle growth depends on the number of prenatally formed fibres and on the degree of their postnatal hypertrophy. To better understand the biology of muscle growth, the transcriptome of two skeletal muscles (m. longissimus dorsi and m. biceps femoris) in two types of pigs (Large White and Wild Boar) in the intensive growth period (3-4 months of age) will be studied by using Affymetrix GeneChip Porcine Array (containing probes for 20,201 S. scrofa genes). This analysis will reveal majority of genes expressed in the muscles, will show differences in expressions between the two muscles and between the two types of pigs. Selected differentially expressed genes will be studied in more detail (real-time RT-PCR, sequencing, genomic organization, polymorphism, search for causes in expression differences, etc.). The obtained results will provide a deeper insight into the biology of muscle growth. When a good candidate gene is found, it will be tested in a commercial population for association studies with growth/muscling traits, with the prospect of its application in marker assisted selection. Bude studován transkriptom dvou svalů u dvou typů prasat (bílé ušlechtilé a divoké prase) v období intenzívního růstu. Diferenčně exprimované geny budou studovány podrobněji, s cílem odhalit příčiny rozdílů v expresi. Získané poznatky přispějí k poznání biologie růstu svalů a uplatnění ve šlechtění.
