Soupis rukopisů knihovny Premonstrátského kláštera v Teplé vychází z projektu Souborného katalogu rukopisů českých zemí, který v r. 1969 schválila Komise pro soupis a studium rukopisů při Archivu AV ČR a postupně jej realizuje oddělení pro soupis a studium rukopisů téhož archivu i jiná pracoviště uchovávající rukopisné fondy. Vedle již publikovaných Zásad zápisu rukopisů z r. 1983, ročních bibliografických přehledů kodikologické literatury a prací na Průvodci po rukopisných fondech českých zemí, který je v pokročilém stadiu zpracování, jde hlavně o fondové soupisy rukopisů, tj. katalogizaci přirozených souborů rukopisů tak, jak uchovávány v našich knihovnách, archivech a muzeích. Význam těchto soupisů pro všechny humanitní vědní obory, ale i pro vědy přírodní a technické, zejména v jejich hisotickém rozměru, je obecně uznáván, takže nepotřebuje zdůvodnění. Je přirozené, že to platí též o katalogu tepelských rukopisů. The catalogue of manuscripts at the Premonstratensian Monastery Library in Teplá has its origin in a project for a Collected Catalogue of Manuscripts from the Czech Lands, which was approved in 1969 by the Commission for the Cataloguing and Study of Manuscripts at the Archives of the ASCR. Besides the already published Principles of Manuscript Description from 1983, and annual bibliographical reviews of codicological literature and work on the Guide to Manuscript Collections of the Czech Lands, which isin an advanced stage of preparation, manuscript collection catalogues, i.e. the cataloguing of natural manuscript collections as they are preserved in our libraries, archives and museums, is what is chiefly involved here. The significance of these catal ogues for all areas of humanities as well as for natural and technical sciences, particularly in their historical aspect, is generally recognized and so does not need a special justification. Naturally, this also applies to the catalogue of the Teplá man
