DEFINITION
  • A standardized and structured interview originally developed and published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research by Marshal Folstein, Susan Folstein and Paul McHugh in 1975 which is used to evaluate an individual's cognitive aptitude and track any cognitive changes. This instrument contains approximately 11 multi-level questions involving various tasks which cover orientation, memory, attention and writing ability. Each question or sub-question has a rating of 0 or 1 with 0 representing a wrong or failed response and 1 representing a correct response; the maximum score is 30.NCI
