Hlubší poznání etiopatogeneze nejvýznamějších zánětlivých revmatických onemocnění, výzkum nových léčebných možností, které se opírají o nové poznatky molekulárněbiologických a genetických základů, se zvláštní pozorností věnovanou nemocným, kteří jsou reflakterní vůči současným léčebným postupům. Výzkum v oblasti nezánětlivých revmatických onemocnění, osteoartrózy bz měl přispět k zpřesnění a zejména k prohloubení diagnostiky, aby terapie byla včasná, což je jedna z hlavních limitujících podmínek její účinnosti.
