Description
  • The estimation of radiation doses is based on measurements of physical and chemical characteristics of the mining aerosol conducted recently in an active uranium mine. The mean size of particles (AMAD) was in the range 5-9 μm. Study of kinetics of dissolution of uranium estimated rapidly dissolved fraction of 0.142 and 0.177 for U-238 and U-234, respectively. Fraction of Rn gas emanating from uranium particles was in the range 32% - 63% with the mean of 44%. Based on these parameters, committed effective doses from long lived radionuclides in uranium dust is 1.9 mSv in average, the mean effectve dose from radon 4.1 mSv and the mean dose from external gamm radiation 2.2 mSv.
