Description
  • We have investigated the influences of the ammonia plasma on the hyaluronan. It is found that the increasing counts of nitrogen atoms were detected on the surface of the hyaluronan. This observation does not depend on the RF power used, in which both 3W (20-17) and 11W (100-89) give identical results. However, exposing the samples with low-power plasmas gives rise to considerable improvement in the counts of functional groups that contain nitrogen atoms. Therefore, this result is an important step to carry out the next step to cross link the hyaluronan. We also have identified the influence of the glass (petri dish) surface on the sodium hyaluronate solution that resulted in the higher counts for carbon atoms and lower counts for atomic oxygen, in agreement with the experiment. Further investigation of this effect needs to be carried out.
