Description
| - Electromagnetic properties of ferrofluids comprising magnetite particles are discussed. Magnetite particles were synthesized by co-precipitation method from mixture of FeIII and FeII chlorides whose ratio varied from 0.33 to 2.30. Particles were stabilised by dextran or gelatine. Prepared particles were characterized by electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, magnetostatic measurement as well as dielectric and magnetic spectroscopy. Considerable differences in electromagnetic properties recorded in liquid form are explained on the basis of various structures, into which particles tend to organise. Such materials are discussed in relation to their possible utilisation in radioactive hyperthermia through the combine effect of magnetic and dielectric losses.
