| - Tools and their management are very important parts of each manufacturing system and with an increasing impact of information technologies on manufacturing we get the possibility to effectively manage their use and to obtain an important influence on the increase of productivity and reduction of manufacturing costs. In CIM systems, the tool management must fill functions as optimization of used types and numbers of tools and their components, connection of the tools to the planned processes, operations and NC programs, the assembly of tools from components and its adjustment, measuring of assembled tool dimensions, transfer of information about tool dimensions to NC system for determination of the corrections, watching of the cutting time for tool life estimation and control of tool flow within the manufacturing system. - Nástrojové hospodářství je velmi důležitou součástí každého výrobního systému. S rozvíjením schopností a výkonu informačních technologií a jejich pronikáním do oblasti výrobních procesů se otevírají nové možnosti jak zefektivnit hospodaření s nástroji a tak pozitivně ovlivňovat produktivitu práce, výrobní náklady i kvalitu výrobků. Ve výrobních systémech musí subsystém nástrojového hospodářství plnit nebo podporovat takové funkce jako optimalizaci používaných typů a počtů nástrojů a jejich komponent, vazbu nástrojů na prováděné technologické operace a NC programy, sestavování nástrojů z jejich komponent, seřizování nástrojů, měření přesných rozměrů sestavených nástrojů a přenos naměřených hodnot k výrobním strojům a zařízením pro určení korekcí pro jejich práci, sledování doby činnosti nástroje (např.doby řezu nástroje) pro odhad zbývající trvanlivosti a životnosti nástroje, řízení toku nástrojů ve výrobním systému atd.
