  • Computer simulations of the PIM process require precise specifications of their flow behaviour. Although temperature effect on viscosity has been commonly taken into account, the viscosity dependence on pressure is still omitted. A single piston capillary rheometer was modified by addition of a second chamber with a restricting valve (developed at the Polymer Centre, Zlin, Czech Republic), which provides backpressure increasing the pressure in the melted material during the flow through the die. The modified White-Metzner model was employed to simultaneously fit the measured viscosity data and determine the temperature and pressure coefficients for ethylene based binder and its compounds with carbide powder. Both temperature and pressure sensitivity coefficients are largely dependent on the structure of a polymer, which should be taken into account for binder formation development. Increasing the loading level of the powder in the compound diminishes the pressure sensitivity of their flow properties.

  • Počítačové simulace PIM procesů vyžadují přesnou specifikaci tokového chování použitých materiálů. Třebaže závislost viskozity na teplotě je obecně brána v úvahu, vliv tlaku je spíše opomíjen. Pro měření závislosti viskozity na tlaku byl použit kapilární reometr upravený přídavnou měřící komůrkou (vyvinuto na Centru polymerních materiálů, Univerzita Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně, ČR). Pro modelování experimentálních dat byl použit White-Metznerův model, s jehož pomocí byly stanoveny teplotní a tlakové koeficienty pro použité materiály (systém karbidový prášek-polymerní pojivo na bázi etylenu). Bylo ukázáno, že jak teplotní, tak tlakový koeficient jsou vysoce závislé na struktuře polymeru, což by mělo býti bráno v úvahu při navrhování polymerní matrice. Dále bylo zjištěno, že se zvyšujícím se obsahem plniva v systému dochází k redukci citlivosti tokových vlastností vůči tlaku. (cs)
