Description
| - Neutronová transmisní radiografie je založena na útlumu radiace procházející hmotou. Díky různým hodnotám útlumu záření X a neutronů může neutronová radiografie poskytnout kontrastní obrázky materiálů rentgenograficky nerozlišitelných. Dnes dostupné detektorové systémy jako je Medipix umožňují po adaptaci provádět neutronové zobrazování v reálném čase s velkou citlivostí a dynamickým rozsahem. Představujeme detektor jednotlivých neutronů postavený na detektoru jednotlivých rentgenovských fotonů Medipix-1 (64 x 64 pixelů, 170 x 170 m). Tepelné neutrony jsou ve vrstvičce konvertoru převedeny na těžké nabité částice, které jsou následně zaznamenány detektorem Medipix-1. Prostorové rozlišení, detekční účinnost a ostatní vlastnosti toho detektoru byly určeny pro různé konverzní materiály (6LiF, 10B) a porovnány s Monte-Carlo simulacemi. Byla studována citlivost zařízení na radiaci gama pozadí a také jeho aktivace termálními neutrony. (cs)
- Neutron transmission radiography is based on attenuation of radiation passing through matter. Thanks to different values of neutron and X-ray attenuation coefficients in matter, neutronography can produce contrast images of materials, which are roentgenographically. Nowadays promising digital detector systems such as Medipix are available and make possible real time neutronographic imaging with high sensitivity and high dynamic range. A neutron pixel detector based on a single X-ray photon counting pixel detector device Medipix-1 is presented (64 x 64 pixels, each 170 x 170 m). Thermal neutrons are converted in a converter layer to the heavy charged particles, which are subsequently detected by the Medipix-1 device. Spatial resolution, detection efficiency and other detector properties are determined and compared with Monte-Carlo simulations. Results of studies of device sensitivity to background gamma radiation and to its activation by thermal neutrons are presented.
