Description
  • The only indisputable evidence that ASR has developed in concrete is the presence of ASR gel reaction products. Several spot methods have been developed to be utilised to monitor the presence of ASR gel. In this contribution the nature and procedure of the three spot methods are described: uranyl-acetate fluorescence method, rhodamin B method and hexanitrocobaltitate method. Also some specific limitations are given. All used chemicals are toxic, some of them are mutageneous. That is why health hazard informations are of a great importance. All methods can be used by an adequately trained technician. Results of the spot methods should be verified by other identification methods.
