Description
  • Cadmium is one of the toxic metals because of its chemical similarity to biogenic zinc. Toxicity of cadmium is based on its ability to easily enter into various enzymatic reactions instead of zinc and thus block or modify the subsequent biochemical processes. Therefore it is desirable to remove cadmium from any commonly produced waste and dispose with it as hazardous waste. One of the potentially usable methods for the treatment of liquid waste containing dissolved toxic metals is the radiation removal. Irradiation of an aqueous solution containing metal complexes results under specific conditions in minimization of the volume and solubility of the waste.
