  • *This document summarizes the state of the art of the proposed complex two-dimensional CFD model of combustion, heat production, and pollutant development in a pulverized coal fired boiler (PCB), introduced in [SB10]. The model incorporates equations for 2D compressible turbulent flow, coal combustion, convective and radiative heat transfer and reactions of the most important chemical species. Since the publication of [SB10], the model has been extended in a considerable way to be able to simulate various modes of operation of one particular device installed at the heating and power plant in Otrokovice, Czech Republic, with focus on with biomass co-firing. Validation on other PCBs is in progress and is mentioned briefly.
