Description
  • This paper is related to Acoustic Emission (AE) principle which is a Nondestructive Testing method (NDT) for many material applications. We deal with the geodetic curve based localization of the defects on surfaces of solid bodies. Therefore, at first, we consider several simple parametrized shapes like cylinders, toroides, spheres, cones,... For these purposes, we present the foundations differential geometry theory, namely geodesic equations including so called Christoffel symbols. We demonstrate a numerical solution of geodesic equations by means of Newton-Raphson iterative method. For faster computations we propose a few non-numerical improvements. Finally, we present the basic ideas of the real localization principle using Euclidean distance.
