  • It is generally known that plasma sprayed coatings exhibit rather a low strength thanks to their characteristic microstructure with porosity and microcracks. To determine the role of varying types of deformation in different parts of the coatings profile, 1.8 mm thick Chromia coatings on a steel substrate were made using WSPŽ plasma spray. Stress gradients were then measured %22in-situ%22 on a four-point bending device during bend deformation of the coated beam using neutron diffraction. Only compressive loading in coatings increased the resulting stresses. From the plot of stresses vs. applied strain (linear dependence) the Young's moduli of the substrate and the coating were determined. Both values agree well with those obtained by mechanical testing.

  • Je všeobecně známo, že plazmové nástřiky mají nižší pevnost díky jejich struktuře charakterizované póry a trhlinami. Pro určení vlivu proměnné deformace v různých místech profilu nástřiku, byly pomocí stříkání proudem vodou stabilizovaného plazmatu (WSPŽ) vyrobeny 1,8 mm tlusté nástřiky oxidem chromitým. Gradienty napětí byly měřeny %22in-situ%22 během čtyřbodového ohybu nosníku s nástřikem pomocí neutronové difrakce. Pouze tlaková deformace nástřiku zvyšovala vyvolaná napětí. Z grafu závislosti napětí na aplikované deformaci (lineární závislost) byl stanoven Youngův modul podložky a nástřiku. Obě hodnoty velmi dobře souhlasí s hodnotami získanými klasickou mechanickou zkouškou. (cs)
