  • This article provides details of implementation of the Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network using special arithmetic, which is based on linearly approximated functions with shift and add operations. Further, we present results of our pilot implementation on Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA. We provide a number of parameters like maximum clock frequency or number of function blocks that characterize the resulting synthesized FPGA design for various sizes of RBF network.
