  • Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a relatively new, cutting edge environmental decision support tool recently standardized by the International Standardization Organization (ISO). The LCA provides quantitative environmental and energy data on products and processes. Although solar energy is non-GHG emitting in its operation, there is GHG emission in its different stages of life cycle (i.e.material extraction, manufacturing, construction and transportation, etc.). A Solar-Hydrogen-Fuel Cell System is a zero emission system while in operation. However, there are significant emissions of GHGs during the production of the various components (photovoltaic panel, fuel cell, electrolyzer and the other parts of the system). This paper provides an overview of the current status of LCA methodology, and reviews LCA case studies from a Solar-Hydrogen-Fuel Cell System.

  • Stanovení životního cyklu tvoří poměrně nový způsob standardizované metody pro určení vlivů zařízení na životní prostředí; poskytuje kvantitativní environmentální a energetické údaje o produktech a procesech. I když proces výroby elektrické energie v solárních článcích nepůsobí přímé emise skleníkových plynů, tyto emise vznikají při výrobě těchto prostředků. Příspěvek shrnuje současné poznatky z této oblasti. (cs)
