Description	This paper is dealing with the ability and willingness of the Czech academic community to participate in the introduction of e-learning education forms. It shows that the situation is not very optimistic (especially in non-technical areas) and looks for the reasons. On the basis of this evaluation it offers also some ideas and possibilities how to make e-learning popular with most teachers. One of the possible solutions is a specialized web portal serving for support and promotion of e-learning. Such portal is operated by CESNET association, which unites majority of universities in the Czech Republic, in cooperation with our Department. We describe specific functions of the portal, as well as its principal aims and purposes.
