Description
  • This paper summarizes the knowledge available in the production of multilayer metal materials which can be referred to as “metal composites”. In particular, attention was paid to the manufacturing technology of metal composites by cold rolling. This article briefly describes the current state of the development of various technologies for firm joining of two or more metal materials in the form of strips and sheets without the use of any additional material. In the industrial practice, bimetals or trimetals are quite frequently used in the mass production, but the production of multilayer metal composites in the form of flat products is not routinely implemented and information on their development is very rare. To understand the mechanism of joining two or more metal materials and to determine an appropriate technology for producing multilayer metal composites, considerable attention has been paid to the theoretical model of the joint creation. There are several of trends in this area, but no comprehensive and widely accepted description has yet been created. For the practical application of metal composites, the price of the semi-finished product is very important, which will mainly be affected by the method of the series production and utility properties of the semi-finished product. Given the cost and availability of the semi-finished products, the contribution of the material will be mainly focused on the use of various grades of steel strips produced by the cold rolling process.
