Description
  • This report deals with relationship between microstructure orientation in bifurcation of human aorta and its mechanical properties. Uni-axial tensile tests with strips from human aorta were performed together with histomorfometrical analysis of sections from the same strips. It is difficult to detect collagen fibres from images separately for evaluation of their orientation, therefore new approach was proposed. Orientation of collagen fibres was considered as same as orientation of smooth cells nuclei (SMCN). Their orientation distribution is more measurable. The SMCN orientation was mapped in various places through whole wall thickness. Focusing on simplified interpretation of mechanical tests, one can say, that strips loaded in longitudinal direction were significantly stiffer than strips loaded in circumferential direction. The result has been created within the scope of the research plans SGS10/247/OHK2/3T/12.
