Description
  • The target of this paper is to deal with the possibility of monitoring and modeling the energy intensity of the cutting process. Below is a description of the implementation of three experiments and their results. In the first experiment, we used the direct measurement method of the energy consumption of the cutting process using a dynamometer. Based on this we obtained a map of energy intensity used for the cutting process depending on cutting conditions. This was useful for selecting the correct cutting conditions and for a comparison of mathematical model results. In the second experiment the power consumption of the whole cutting machine was measured. From this we got the dependency between the power consumption of the whole machine and cutting process consumption. Finally, an experiment based on mathematical model calculation was conducted. A mathematical model was made, which is applicable for calculating cutting process power and energy. The mathematical model was verified by the two experiments above.
