Description
  • Air flowing around bodies in HVAC units is responsible in such places for a significant increase of pressure losses and/or low velocity and consequently for enhanced generation of sound energy into the surrounding environment. The aim of the project is to decrease the sound power of HVAC elements via a decrease of the turbulence of air. The principle of such a reduction is based on an analysis of the spectrum of turbulence and its correlation with the spectrum of sound power. The contribution presents the processes and pitfalls of experimental measurements which monitors correlations between the hydraulic characteristics of air flow turbulence such as turbulence intensity, flow velocity and/or their spectral dependences in relation with the spectral dependence of the sound power levels of an inlet induction element or an independent inlet/outlet.
