Description
| - Vascular branching represents a significant geometry and material inhomogeneity that induces stress concentration and changes strain distribution within a blood vessel wall. The objectives of interests are commonly blood cells, their destroying in a turbulent flow, which occurs near bifurcations, or internal diameter decreasing. This paper deals with the impact of a bifurcation on a strain distribution. Analytical model of stress concentration, FEM model and the experiment realized as a tensile test, evaluated using digital image correlation (DIC), are discussed. The parametric study of circular hole dimension showed, that the larger hole affects larger region than the smaller hole does. Strain gradient in the immediate neighborhood of hole margin is slightly higher for smaller hole. We achieved satisfactory correspondence between FEM model and data from DIC.
