  • The aim of this paper is to present the comparison of results of numerical simulations with experimental data for the case of turbulent free surface flow in an open channel with ribbed bottom. Mathematical model used for numerical simulations is based on simple version of Volume of Fluid (VOF) method. The model consists of system of Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible, variable-density fluid flow. The water-air flow is then treated as a flow of single fluid with variable material properties (i.e. density and viscosity). The VOF method used to resolve the water-air interface allows for very straightforward implementation of turbulence model. In this case the Helsten's modification of SST k-omega model was used.

  • Tento článek prezentuje srovnání numerických a experimentálních výsledků pro případ turbulentního proudění s volnou hladinou v otevřeném kanále se žebrovaným dnem. Matematický model je založen na jednoduché variantě metody VOF. Model se skládá z Reynoldsovsky středovaných Navierových-Stokesových rovnic pro nestlačitelnou tekutinu s proměnnou hustotou. Proudění vody a vzduchu je v tomto případě chápáno jako proudění jediné tekutiny s proměnnými materiálovými parametry (tj. hustotou a viskozitou). Metoda VOF umožňuje velmi přímočarou implementaci modelu turbulence. V tomto případě byl použit SST k-omega model v Helstenově modifikaci. (cs)
